BURNSBERG KENNELS
QUESTIONS FOR NEW POTENTIALCUSTOMERS:
1) Are you looking for male or female?
2) What color/colors are you interested? Do you have a time frame in mind that you'd like to receive your puppy?
3) Have you had a Siberian husky before?
4) Do you own or rent your home? If you rent is your landlord ok with pets & specifically a siberian husky puppy?
5)Do you have a fenced in yard? If not how do you intent to keep your husky from running off? Siberian huskies are known to run off and this is bcuz they are born to hunt. They have a high prey drive.
6)How long have you been thinking about getting a husky?
7) Do you have the patience to raise a puppy? Raising a puppy is not much different then raising a child. It's a 10-15 year commitment.
8) Have you researched the Siberian husky breed at all? If so how much have you researched?
9) Do you have any other pets? if so what are they and what are there ages?
10) Do you have any children? If so, what are there ages?
11) Do you work from home or do you work out of your home? if out of your home, how many hours are you away at one time? If out of your home I'm assuming you will crate train and I want to know how many hours your husky will spend in a crate.
12) Have you researched raising and training puppies & know how much work they are? Have you researched what puppies will need?
13) Have you looked into the right veterinarian for you? If not I suggest you do. Extremely important to find a good veterinarian that has siberian husky knowledge. Shocking a huge percent if veterinarian know very little about this breed.
14) Do you know Siberian Husky behavior & facts? Do you know they are a pack breed and there instincts and behaviors are very similar to a wolf. That isn't a bad thing it's actually awesome. Huskies dig in the yard bcuz they are making a natural habitat for themselves. This is called a Den. They do this to have a cool home in the ground. Huskies love to do this. You can teach them not too but this is one of there cool instincts.
15) what is your name, address, city & zip?
16) We do a spay/neuter contract that all our customers MUST sign. All our huskies must be spay or neutered by age 1, no exceptions. We do NOT allow any breeding of any kind with our Huskies. No mix breeding, no oops my husky got out, NO BREEDING PERIOD! Are you aware of this? Males are at risk of testicular cancer just after age 1. Girls can skip a heat B4 spaying but if requesting to do so this must be in writing and written in on our contract. This will be to approved homes only. (If you have an unneutered male of any breed this will not be approved) Girls will seek out a mate and try to escape your yard in search of ANY male. We do NOT allow an oops, she got out so sorry. That is irresponsible of the owner. So precautions must be met if skipping a heat B4 wanting to spay. Also first heats are 18-30 days long and VERY MESSY.
17) what will be your your training method? Will you be training or will you be seeking out a trainer? We do highly recommend that your husky is properly trained. If you plan to do see there are several good books that I can recommend. If your wanting to get your puppy trained, I highly recommend a private trainer NOT petsmart or one of those. The pet store training programs are a huge waste of money. If you'd like recommendations on a good personal trainer please ask. Our puppies are in every single state and more then 50% of our customers do get professional training.
18). Are you getting a siberian husky for service or working? PTSD, Depression or therapy husky? If so we do have our own trainer and she's truly amazing. When doing this depth of trainer she would need to take your husky for 6-9 months. It's a lengthy training process but with great results! There is a cost to do this and it's not cheap.
19). What do you plan to feed your husky as an adult or puppy? You do know that we do NOT agree with feeding raw! Raw meats contain a long list of bacterias that can cause a long list of illnesses and even death. Alot of people think oh well they do this in the wild. Yes they do and wolves and coyotes do not live long bcuz of it! FACT. The average life of a wild wolf is under 5 years of age. Yes others live long but the average is shockingly low! These huskies are domesticated bcuz we made them this way. There stomachs cannot handle salmonella, E-coli, Listeria, Campylobacter (a common pathogen that can cause botulism poisoning). Raw vegetables or raw fruit? COOL Do not feed raw meat! If that is your plan we are not the breeders for you. This is something that is in our contract and we are strongly against this! Dogs on a raw meat diet are at huge risk of parasites & bacteria and heart disease and do not live long. All 3 of our veterinarians are VERY VERY against feeding raw.
20). Are you aware that huskies CANNOT be shaved? This would seriously hurt there health. Huskies do not have pigment and burn easily. They need there double coats to protect there skin from the sun. Huskies shed twice a year (spring & fall usually, depending on your climate). During there shed they need to be brushed or blown out. Huskies should not be bathed alot. Once or twice a year bcuz they naturally have dry skin. Over bathing will result in severe dry and irritated skin and a dull dingy coat. Mid fall we bathe ours in an antibacterial/antifungal shampoo to get the yeast out of there fur do to swimming. Siberian Huskies love to swim just as much as the love winter & snow. Huskies can handle all climates from -20 to 100 degrees. They have a double coat that protects them from the sun and the cold. They can live happy in every single state and country. They need shade, fan, air conditioning, pool, and water in HOT weather just as any dog would or any human.
23). What form of flea & tick treatment will you be using? This is a must! Any dog that goes outside is at risk of mosquitos, ticks, fleas, ect..... We are very against ALL of the chews such as nexguard, simparica & trio, credellio, comfortus, bravecto, ect....... All of these contain ingredients (main ingredients) that cause serious neurological issues. Over 65,000 dogs have died from these poisons and 55,000 suffer from epilepsy and other serious neurological disorders from these monthly flea and tick medications. None of my veterinarians even sell this but MANY veterinarians push this. We do make everyone sign this on our contract that if using any of these medications, your health guarantee will be null and void.
22). Have you reviewed our contract? It is on our website and all must sign. For out of state puppies our ground & flight nanny will have this contract for all to sign. She's very professional just as we are. Our contract is for the safety of all our huskies. A GOOD BREEDER will have a detailed contract and health guarantee.
Sorry for all the questions but each and everyone of our husky puppies are our children and we love them with our whole hearts. We truly care where each one goes and we want the BEST life for each one of them.
YOU MUST RESEARCH SIBERIAN HUSKIES AND TRAINING A PUPPY IN GENERAL BEFORE PLACING A DEPOSIT. ALL PUPPIES ARE WORK, THEY ARE NEWBORN BABIES, AND ALL PUPPIES NEED TRAINING. 😊 PUPPIES DO NOT COME CRATE TRAINER OR POTTY TRAINED. THEY LEAVE AT 8-10 WEEKS OF AGE AND THAT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE NEW OWNERS.
